A group of people attacked a man who was seen ripping off his own t-shirt, leaving him in critical condition early this morning in downtown Seattle, according to the Seattle Police Department.
Witnesses told police the man seemed out of control and was yelling at the group and tearing off his clothes, around 1:16 a.m. in the 300 block of Stewart Street. Three men then began attacking him, smashing a bottle over his head and kicking him, according to police.
The 19, 21 and 22-year-old men and a female then ran from the scene with the 34-year-old victim’s fanny pack, according to police.
Officers responding to the call saw the group and chased them on foot. Police caught up and arrested the men, including one who threw a handgun while trying to escape.
Officers booked the men into King County Jail for investigation of assault and robbery. Police say one of the men had an outstanding Department of Corrections felony warrant and had weapons violations.
The injured man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition, according to police.
